COVID-19 Update: February 18, 2022

Effective February 21, 2022, Community Living Wallaceburg is currently facilitating on-site and off-site visits for essential and non-essential visitors for those supported in Accommodation Support homes.

COVID-19 Update: January 14, 2022

Effective January 14, 2022, Community Living Wallaceburg is currently placing a pause on all non-essential visits. At this time, essential visits are still permitted (those considered necessary to maintain the health, wellness, and safety, or any applicable legal rights, of a congregate living resident).

Essential visitors will be screened including the use of Rapid Antigen Testing prior to entering the home and must abide by PPE requirements including the use of medical mask and face shield.

COVID-19 Update: December 31, 2021

Because of the dramatic increase in community risk we will be implementing a two week pause to on and off site visits, as well as to most community activities for the people that we support.  This is being done in order to get an understanding of community transmission as well as to ensure that we have the tools and resources necessary to support people safely. Our intention is to resume these opportunities effective Friday January 14th and we will keep you informed of our progress.

COVID-19 Update: December 23, 2021

Effective December 24, 2021, all visitors, regardless of vaccination status, to Accommodation Support locations must be Rapid Antigen tested upon arrival at the home.  This includes family members, friends, contractors etc.  Visitors are permitted to provide proof of a negative test rather than testing on site, but the test must have been done no more than 24 hours before the visit.

COVID-19 Update: July 22, 2021

In line with the Provinces move to Phase 3 of the “Roadmap to Reopen Ontario,” Community Living Wallaceburg will now facilitate the following 3 types of visits for those who reside in Accommodation Support Locations: Onsite Visits – Essential Visitors (immediate family)Indoor/Outdoor, Onsite Visits – Non Essential Visitors Indoor/Outdoor, and Off Site Visits – Short Stay and Overnight.

At this current time, Community Living Wallaceburg is currently facilitating Essential Visits (immediate family members), Non-Essential Visits (friends and social acquaintances) and Short-Stay Off-Site Visits (visits with a designated essential visitor) for those supported in Accommodation Support homes.

Essential visits are permitted to visit either inside or outside of the home.  If visiting inside the visit should be limited to a designated common area or the individual’s private space to facilitate ease of disinfection afterwards. “Non-Essential visitors” are permitted to conduct visits provided that they are done outdoors. Short-stay off-site visits may be up to 12 hours in duration but cannot be for an overnight stay and the Agency asks that the intended off-site visit be limited to the residential property of the supporting family member(s) or outdoor low risk activities only.

Community Living Wallaceburg is committed to delivering the highest quality supports and services possible to the people affiliated with our Agency.  As you are no doubt aware, there has been growing concern about the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) around the world, including instances in Ontario.  While we are fortunate that there have been no identified cases in the community of Chatham-Kent, we want to reassure you that Community Living Wallaceburg is taking the risk seriously. The Agency is taking appropriate steps in contingency planning for the people we support, their families and our employees, in the event that our community is directly impacted.

Currently, our Agency is regularly monitoring information from Health Canada, Ontario Public Health, and Chatham-Kent Public Health.  We have also been in contact with our local public health representatives to clarify roles in the event that the illness presents in our community.  For the time being, the impacts of this are minimal but please be reassured that we are assessing the situation around presenting cases in the province, activities and excursions, as well as the potential vulnerabilities of the population that we serve on an ongoing basis.  In the short term, we have implemented a heightened level of disinfecting within the Agency, as well as increasing staff awareness around disinfection, general sanitation and self-assessment for illness.  This is a rapidly evolving situation and further measures to reduce risks of infection and cross-contamination will be taken as the situation requires.
