To the Family and Friends of Community Living Wallaceburg,
As the serious risks related to the COVID-19 Pandemic persist, Community Living Wallaceburg continues to maintain rigorous practices and precautions in order keep the people we support and our employees safe and healthy. Part of our work is now to ensure that the necessary information about the vaccine is available and readily accessible for everyone affiliated with our Agency, as we prepare for the arrival for vaccination against the COVID–19 virus.
Even with no specific timelines about when a vaccine will be made available to the people supported and our employees, we want to ensure that when that time does come, those who want to be vaccinated will be ready.
As a first step, we are providing educational material, created by experts and in different formats, to our employees, the people we support and families to help in the decision-making process about receiving the vaccine. Community Living Wallaceburg supports the vaccination program and believe that it is the best option to protect vulnerable individuals and ultimately to bring an end to the pandemic. However, there will be no requirement that persons currently supported by the Agency must be vaccinated.
The decision about whether or not to proceed with vaccination is an important one. Our responsibility is to share educational information and facilitate making an informed decision about receiving the vaccine or not. Attached to this letter is a summary document prepared by the “Provincial Network Vaccine Work Group” of the Provincial Network on Developmental Services. This provides information related to both vaccines that have been approved Health Canada. We have also attached some examples of the materials that we will share with the people that we support.
Persons involved in giving consent for vaccinations for people supported by the Agency will be contacted directly at a later date in order to discuss vaccination and the process.
The health and wellness of the people that we support is our highest priority. Should you have any questions about the vaccination process that we will be facilitating, please contact Roger Romses, Director: Community Living Support Operations at 519-627-0777 ext. 2557.
Thank you for your continuing and valued collaboration,
Deborah Hook Roger Romses
