To the Family and Friends of Community Living Wallaceburg,

As you are aware, Step 1 of the province’s “Roadmap to Re-open” will take effect on June 11, 2021. In accordance with updated directives from the Ontario government and Chatham-Kent Public Health, our Agency is adjusting Visitor Protocols to permit both indoor and outdoor visits for Essential Visitors (immediate family members), outdoor visits with Non-Essential visitors (friends and social acquaintances), and short stay absences (up to 12 hours in duration) with immediate family members in the family home. These changes will take effect on June 11.

We are very pleased to be able to facilitate these visits again.  However we ask that you continue to exercise caution and consideration while carrying out these visits.  The threat of COVID-19 remains very real, and many of the individuals we support and our employees are still awaiting their second doses of the vaccine or have not been vaccinated.  As a result, vulnerabilities to the risk of outbreak remain a serious danger.

The expected precautions for these visits will be shared with you and can also be found at https://getintocommunityliving.com/visitor-information/. In particular, we ask that you limit activities to the family household or outdoor, low risk activities.  Furthermore, participants in the visit should be limited to those in the immediate household to further reduce risk.

As we move through the steps to re-open, we will be implementing further changes within the homes and reducing restrictions that have impacted the people we support for well over a year.  We look forward to sharing those details as we make changes.  Please know that we will be exercising a cautious and measured approach to ensure the safety of the people we support and our employees, while giving due consideration to the recreation and social needs that are being impacted.

This letter is the best news that we’ve been able to share with you in several months! We are pleased that the warm summer weather and the lifting of many of the restrictions will start to change our lives for the better. However, we do count on your continuing collaboration as we carefully follow the provincial and our own “Roadmap to Re-Open”.

Sincere Thanks,
