Wallaceburg Wolves Baseball Game a Success!

Celebrations for Community Living Wallaceburg’s 60th Anniversary kicked off September 13th with a special Community baseball game, held at Kinsmen Park in Wallaceburg. Members of the community took to the field to play against the Wallaceburg Wolves, Community Living Wallaceburg’s team made up of individuals who have an intellectual or physical disability.

A crowd of fans gathered at A.A. Wright school and made their way to the baseball diamond cheering with signs and noisemakers.  The loud and energetic group was escorted by a Firetruck and local members of the Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services. The Wolves players were completely surprised with the arrival of the loud cheering crowd.

To add to the excitement, Greg Hetherington from 99.1 CKSX, was behind the dugout introducing each player as they entered the field and announcing highlights of the game as it was played. Members of the community team included Chatham-Kent Police Services, Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services, Councilor Jeff Wesley, Board Members and Staff.

The Wallaceburg Wolves team, coached by Aaron Vandorsselaer, is a team that anyone can join regardless of their ability. The team meets once a week during the summer to enjoy a fun game of baseball, where the players take turns hitting the ball and running the bases.
